I’m so excited to announce my first optioned studio project, Broken Silence, based on the book by Promises R. Huff. I had the great fortune of meeting Promises at a taping for The She-EO Mindset television show (the show is a client of Kirby Media Studios). Promises was a guest where she briefly told the story of how she was incarcerated for giving an inmate a cell phone (she worked as a county jailer at the time). It was a powerful testimony and I knew I wanted to learn more. My wife bought Promises book and after reading it, I knew it would make a great film project.
After some negotiating, Promises and my company, Kirby Media Studios, inked an option agreement for her book’s film rights over Father’s Day weekend! I’m so excited about this project and can’t wait to share more in the future. Check out the official press release below.

Kirby Media Studios “Breaks Silence” On New Motion Picture Project
Memphis, TN: Kirby Media Studios today announced it has optioned the film rights to Promises R. Huff’s book, Broken Silence. The book details Promises’ incredible true story of how, as a county jailer, she was indicted for providing a cellphone to an inmate, given an outrageous $1.2 million-dollar bond, and sentenced to six months in prison. The project explores the events that led to Promises’ conviction, her experiences as a first-time offender, and how she overcame adversity after release. With a screenplay in development by Rod Kirby, Kirby Media Studios is excited to bring Promises’ story to global audiences in 2021.
